Richard Fick Purcell, CCAS AA ’47, BA ’48, passed away on Aug. 13, 2013.
After graduating from GW, Purcell furthered his education by earning an MA from Columbia University and an LLB from Harvard Law School. He retired as general counsel of The Connell Company in 1991 and as a director of Combined Life Insurance Company of NY in 2006.
Purcell is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judith, as well as three children and seven grandchildren.
“My father was amazing person, with an unsinkable optimism and a tremendous work ethic, whose absence is keenly felt by all who knew him,” said his daughter, Carolyn Reichenbach.
