Alumna Named President-Elect, State Bar of NM Board of Commissioners

Martha Chicoski, CCAS BA ’97, was recently elected 2014 President-Elect of the State Bar of New Mexico Board of Bar Commissioners.

The 22-member governing board of the State Bar develops policies, procedures and regulations; monitors financial performance, programs and services; and serves as advocates for the State Bar.

Bar Commissioners attend approximately six BBC meetings per year (with up to three meetings outside of Albuquerque) and participate in State Bar committees and other events.

Chicoski has a wide range of litigation experience in both civil and criminal law. In August 2010, she founded Chicoski Law Firm LLC. Other bar service includes the New Mexico Women’s Bar Association (president 2012, treasurer 2011) and Young Lawyers Division (chair 2010 and 2009). She is a 2012 recipient of N.M. Business Weekly’s 40 Under Forty.

Chicoski attended both GW (BA, criminal justice) and Suffolk University Law School (JD). She is licensed to practice law in New Mexico and Massachusetts.
