Benjamin Osborne, CCAS BA ’97, will be a featured speaker at the “Breaking into the Sports Industry” conference on Sept. 13.  Osborne, editor-in-chief of SLAM Magazine, will be speaking alongside a group of other sports industry executives.

The conference, hosted by Boston-based community service organization Shooting Touch, is the second annual conference of its kind.  It is targeted towards current university students and young professionals in the Boston area.

Osborne’s fellow presenters include representatives from each of Boston’s four major sports teams: the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, the Boston Bruins, and the Boston Celtics. The speakers willl share stories about their career and advice on how to achieve specific goals in the sports industry.

SLAM was launched in 1994 and fuses stories about basketball with hip hop culture articles. It has over 150 published issues to date, and Osborne’s work with the magazine earned him the acclaim that led to his selection as a featured speaker for the 2013 conference.

“Breaking into the Sports Industry” will be held in the Fenway Center at Northeastern University on Sept. 13. Registration is available online:  www.shootingtouch.com.
