As Alumni Weekend 2013 approaches, we’re catching up with members of this year’s reuion classes

Meet Joseph Ward, CCAS BA ’08, who is quickly becoming a leader in the LGBT community. This profile was written by Ward’s fellow Colonial, Chris Burke, ESIA BA ‘08, 5-year Reunion Committee Member:

Many people come to GW dreaming of plans to change the world. But in the past five years, few have pursued their dreams with tenacity like Joseph Ward’s.

After several years of advocacy for LGBT rights and progressive faith communities, Ward currently serves as director and editor-in-chief of Believe Out Loud, an organization that empowers Christians, churches and congregations across the world, to work for LGBT equality.

With a blog and new media platform that reaches millions of unique individuals each month, and partners that include the Human Rights Campaign, GLAAD, and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, Ward’s dream of establishing a welcoming and respectful global community for LGBT people is well on its way to success.

Want to know more? Catch up with Ward this September at the Class of 2008’s 5-Year Reunion!
