Since its inception in January of 2010, GW alumni around the world have used the GW Alumni Facebook page as a tool to keep informed about their alma mater, reconnect and reminisce with fellow alumni, and to connect with the Office of Alumni Relations.
“I’m always looking for more ways to get involved with alumni activities and Facebook seemed like a great channel for additional exposure to upcoming events!” says Shari Merrill, ESIA BA ’05, our 7,500th follower.
Through the years, the page has featured innovative content such as the “Where’s George?” photo contest — where alumni photograph themselves with a paper version of George Washington in interesting places around the world, quizzes about prominent alumni, university history, videos and photo coverage of events.
Most recently, GW Alumni’s Facebook page has been a part of “GW Alumni Live,” a feature that allows events to be live streamed to alumni across the globe.
