Darley Newman, CCAS/SMPA BA ’01, hosts, writes and produces the PBS television show Equitrekking, which has been nominated for three Daytime Emmy Awards by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The Equitrekking team received nominations for Outstanding Single Camera Photography (Greg Barna), Outstanding Special Class Writing (Darley Newman and Chip Ward) and Outstanding Travel Program (Darley Newman and Chip Ward).

In each episode of the show, Newman travels with local people to highlight adventure, history, food, nature and culture.

According to a press release about the nominations, Equitrekking’s Botswana episode is nominated alongside The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild, and other outstanding television programs. Equitrekking has won two Emmy Awards, both for photography, after being nominated for eight Emmys over the past four years.

The Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy® Awards gala will be held in Los Angeles in June. It will be telecast on the Turner Broadcast Networks HLN on Sunday evening, June 16, 2013.
