Melissa Thompson Currier, ESIA BA ’94

Melissa Thompson Currier, ESIA BA ’94, has been appointed as director of account development for Calypso Communications (www.calypsocom.com), a strategic marketing and public relations firm in Portsmouth, N.H. Currier, a former marketing director, executive-level consulting strategist, and agency veteran, is charged with guiding strategic development and success for Calypso’s expanding roster of energy, environmental, healthcare, and technology clients.

Over the course of her career, Currier has worked on both the client and agency sides, in addition to providing strategic consulting to the executive suite. She has worked for local, national, and international organizations ranging from multi-generation, family-owned businesses to major consumer brands, from pre-IPO high-tech startups to public powerhouses, and from political campaigns to trade associations and non-profits.

Prior to joining Calypso, Currier spent more than 15 years in the Washington, D.C., metro area. Her professional highlights include work as the director of interactive services at Crosby Marketing Communications, where she led web and marketing technology strategies for more than 20 clients, including FEDweek and Poverty USA, an award-winning, multi-media PSA for Catholic Campaign for Human Development.

Currier is a graduate of GW’s Elliott School of International Affairs where she earned a BA in international communications. Currier is also a graduate and past trustee of Tilton School in Tilton, N.H.
