Festivities begin on Saturday, Feb. 9, when the GW community meets in Veteran’s Park (22nd St. and G Streets, NW) for a special pre-game tailgate before GW men’s basketball welcomes nationally ranked Butler. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams as Atlantic 10 opponents.
At the game, the Colonials will also welcome members of the 1992-93 Sweet 16 team on the 20th anniversary of their Cinderella run, and recognize the five varsity teams who won championships in 2011-12.
On Sunday, Feb. 10, the Colonials will pay tribute to the legacy of Title IX, forty years after the passing of the landmark legislation, with a special brunch featuring USA Today columnist and best selling author Christine Brennan. The brunch takes place at the Charles E. Smith Center, before GW women’s basketball team takes on Butler at 2pm in an Atlantic 10 Battle.
Tickets and event registration is available now at: www.gwsports.com/homecoming.
