Samia Farouki, GSEHD MA ’79

Samie Farouki, GSEHD MA ’79, was appointed as a member of the board for the Washington Area Women’s Foundation. The board oversees the foundation’s mission to mobilize the community to ensure that economically vulnerable women and girls in the Washington region have the resources they need to thrive.

Farouki is the founder and president of HII Finance Corporation, an investment company located in the DC metro area.  She originates and oversees HFC’s diverse investment portfolio and leads numerous U.S. corporations in their growth across national and international markets, with a particular interest in women-owned businesses.

Over the past 33 years, Farouki has focused her creative energy on serving the missions of numerous educational and cultural institutions.  She was instrumental in forming the vision and strategy for the Lab School of Washington and is currently a member of the board of trustees for Vital Voices, Teach for America (DC region), the King Hussein Foundation, the King Hussein Cancer Center, and the World Conference on Religions for Peace; she also serves on the board of governors of the Arab American Institute.  She and her husband currently co-chair the International Committee for the Arts of the Kennedy Center and the Middle East Programs at the Aspen Institute.
