Annual Awards Show: Juried by Margaret Boozer

This juried exhibition showcases the work of Fine Arts students from the 2011-2012 school year. Awards this year total in $7,000, which will be given out at the opening reception on Tuesday, May 1 at 5 p.m.

Did you play the lottery and lose? The 37th Annual Marine Corps Marathon registration lottery closed at record pace (2 hours and 41 minutes), but you still have a chance to get a spot in the big race. The GW Cancer Institute welcomes runners from throughout the metropolitan community to be a part of our 3rd Annual GWCI Marine Corps Marathon team. Summer Literacy Camp: Parent Workshop
June 4-7 | 5:45 – 8 PM
GW’s Speech and Hearing Center

Parents of children ages 7 to 11 years will learn how to create a literacy rich environment for their children while making engaging materials. Each night will focus on a different area of literacy concepts. Parents will walk away with functional activities and resources that they can use at home to promote literacy skills. Parents will also have the opportunity to interact with one another and practice learned techniques. Throughout this one-week camp, children ages 7 to 11 years will receive a multi-sensory approach targets literacy skills including phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. A modified Orton-Gillingham approach will be utilized. Students will participate in small group instruction and one-on-one teaching.
