Earth Wind & Fire Performing at Alumni Weekend 2012

Earth, Wind & Fire
Earth, Wind & Fire | Sept. 28 @ 8 PM | GW's Charles E. Smith Center

You heard right – the Grammy award-winning band Earth Wind & Fire will kick-off  Alumni Weekend 2012 festivities with an all-alumni concert at the Charles E. Smith Center on Friday, Sept. 28, at 8 p.m.

The iconic American soul-funk-fusion powerhouse’s music is steeped in jazz and R&B, and according to Rolling Stone, changed the sound of pop music in the 1970s with their Latin-funk rhythms, gospel harmonies and unerring horns.

The concert and kickoff party, which includes food and beverages, are included with your Alumni Weekend registration. So mark your calendars for the concert and the other 60+ events taking place during Alumni Weekend, Sept. 27-30, 2012.

Tickets and registration will be available beginning July 25. Keep checking alumni.gwu.edu/aw for updates and announcements.

Alumni Weekend lets you reconnect with classmates and old friends, network with fellow alumni and rediscover what you loved about GW and Washington, D.C., as a student. The four days of events include professional development lectures, tours, school-sponsored programs, and several family-friendly activities—most of which are included in your registration fee.

Special class reunion celebrations are planned for the classes of 2007, 2002, 1997, 1992, 1987, 1982 and1962 and earlier. Several affinity group activities are planned for the weekend as well, including a special Student Leader Alumni Reunion in addition to receptions for Athletics, multicultural groups and LGBT Alumni.

Return, reconnect, reminisce—it’s all part of the GW Alumni Weekend experience. And remember, all Colonials, regardless of class year, and their families are welcome!
