Valentines: Dana Polonsky & James O’Malley

If it wasn’t for the Marvin Center, Dana says that she and James never would have met. The two met on the first day they arrived at GW, during freshman move-in.

“That evening, my roommate and I went to a program in the Marvin Center and met James and his friend. We walked to Johnny Rockets in Georgetown and spent time together every day after that,” says Dana.

A week later, on her birthday, the two officially started dating.

James, who hails from Kansas City, and Dana, who’s from Long Island, NY, both say that they chose to attend GW for the same reasons. They liked the city, and they knew about the phenomenal internship opportunities.

“What’s great about us is that we’ve always been able to keep each other motivated. We both transferred from CCAS to GWSB and pursued marketing as a concentration,” she adds. “We only took one class together because we get a bit competitive too!”

Their GW memories are filled with experiences exploring the city and taking advantage of the great concerts and school events with their friends, and they both point to Inauguration Weekend as something they’ll never forget.

After graduation, they moved to New York, where James is a senior digital and social media analyst, and Dana works in food, wine and spirits public relations.
