Beverly L. Perry, CCAS BS ’76

Beverly L. Perry, CCAS BS ’76, senior vice president of external affairs at Pepco Holdings, Inc. received the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Award from the National Capital Area Council Boy Scouts of America (NCAC-BSA) on Dec. 7, 2011.

Perry developed her career in public policy through civic leadership and her commitment to community activities. She was recently honored by District of Columbia Mayor Vincent C. Gray for her service as chair of the Washington Convention and Sports Authority.

Perry also serves on numerous boards and commissions, including the Greater Washington Urban League; Arena Stage; Eastgate Gardens Steering Committee; African American Civil War Memorial; Congressional Black Caucus Political Education & Leadership Committee and Capital City Chapter of the Links, Inc.

A lawyer by profession, she has litigated cases in Federal and State Court throughout the Washington metropolitan region. She practiced law with Frank, Bernstein, Conaway & Goldman prior to joining Potomac Electric Power Company. Other legal positions held by Perry included law clerk for Judge Marian Blank Horn of the U.S. Claims Court and attorney advisor with the U.S. Department of Interior, Office of the Solicitor.

NCAC-BSA is an organization focused on developing character in the lives of young people in the Washington metropolitan area. The Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Award recognizes the outstanding services by an individual or organization for demonstrated involvement in the development and implementation of scouting opportunities for youth from rural or low-income urban backgrounds.
