Merl M. Moore, CCAS MA ’80, passed away on Oct. 25. Col. Moore began his career at the Smithsonian upon retiring from the Army in 1977. In effect, he transformed what had been a vocational interest in 19th-century American art into a full time job of research, scholarship and helping to arrange art exhibitions.
