Alumni Valentines: Marcia Stone & Steven Stone

Marcia Stone, CCAS BA ’76, and Steven Stone, GWSB BBA ’76, met in Crawford Hall during the fall semester of 1973.

“I lived in Room 304 and Steven lived in Room 308,” says Marcia.  Soon after, the GW sophomores began spending a lot of time together on campus and around DC.

“We really enjoyed the city—we loved going to Georgetown and the museums, and taking frequent walks to the Lincoln Memorial,” says Marcia.

The couple also witnessed many signature DC moments together as students, including Nixon’s resignation and the 1976 bicentennial celebration.

Marcia studied political science while Steven was a business major.  After graduating from GW in 1976, the pair left DC. Steven was off to New York City to attend graduate school, while Marcia went to Philadelphia for paralegal school.

By January 1977, Marcia and Steven were reunited in New York City, where they’ve been ever since.  They’ve been married for 35 years and have an almost 26 year old son—who is also a Colonial!  “He attended the business school— just like his father,” says Marcia.

Marcia and Steven enjoyed revisiting GW when their son was a student, as well as any time they visited GW friends who still live in the DC area.

Today, all three Stones are back in New York City, and they love sharing their alma mater.

“GW was a great place to go to school. It was a lot of fun and intellectually challenging.  All three of us had a great time there,” says Marcia. “We are truly a GW family!”
