The Board of Trustees voted May 13 to elect two new members.
Gabbi Baker, GWSB BBA ’13, a young professional and advocate for women in business, and Judith L. Rogers, MVC AA ’74, an expert in the field of education and school leadership, will join the board this summer.
“I am pleased to welcome Judy and Gabbi to the Board of Trustees,” said Chair Nelson A. Carbonell, SEAS BS ’85. “Their experience and commitment to GW will help strengthen the board and further its work to advance the university.”
Ms. Baker is an account supervisor at OgilvyOne Worldwide, a leading global digital marketing agency that focuses on combining data and creativity to help clients grow their businesses and better understand their customers.
Originally from Columbia, S.C., Ms. Baker graduated from the GW School of Business in 2013 and serves as a young alumni leader in the New York City area. She is passionate about women in leadership and is active in the Women’s Leadership Professional Network at Ogilvy and Advertising Women of New York.
Dr. Rogers, who earned an associate’s degree from Mount Vernon College, has an extensive background in school leadership that spans more than 20 years. She served as a public school teacher and an elementary school principal in Massachusetts. She also earned a doctorate in educational leadership.
Dr. Rogers currently teaches graduate students who are aspiring principals, coaches new principals, and serves as kindergarten coordinator for the North Andover Public Schools in Massachusetts.
As a member of the Mount Vernon National Advisory Council, Dr. Rogers co-chairs the mentoring program for GW’s Elizabeth Somers Women’s Leadership Program. She also was a contributor to “I Am Malala: A Resource Guide for Educators,” a free online guide developed through a partnership among GW, Little, Brown and Company, and the Malala Fund.
Outgoing trustees, who have completed their terms, are Richard Blackburn, LAW JD ’67; George Coelho, GWSB MBA ’77; Heather Foley, LAW JD ’69; Allan From, GWSB BBA ’72; Titilola Harley, GWSB BBA ’07, MBA ’09; Randy Levine, CCAS BA ’77; and Mark Shenkman, GWSB MBA ’67.
The board also voted Friday to confer emeriti status on former trustees Mark Hughes, CCAS BA ’69, SEAS MS ’77; Linda Rabbitt, GSEHD MA ’72; and Lydia Thomas.
