GW Alum, Bulls Owner Elected to HOF

Chicago Bulls owner and chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, GWSB BA ’57, was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Monday. Reinsdorf, who oversaw six Michael Jordan-led championship teams in the 1990s, will be enshrined along with nine members of the Class of 2016, including Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson, and current Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo.

“This is the most accomplishment you can have and I’m not really that humble,” Reinsdorf said. “I’m here because of what a lot of people did.”

Reinsdorf as inducted into the GW Sports Executive Hall of Fame in 2008 and joins coaching great and fellow Colonial Red Auerbach, GSEHD BS ’40, MA ’41, in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
