2015 Summer Send-Off Recap

Each summer, GW’s Office of Alumni Relations invites the newest Colonials and their families to attend Summer Send-Offs hosted by our fantastic alumni and parents in cities around the world. These receptions give new students the opportunity to meet one another before arriving at GW in the fall and allow parents to ask questions about their child’s transition to college in a friendly, fun, and casual environment. Thanks to our outstanding host and staff volunteers, this year’s receptions did a great job of representing the tight-knit GW community. We heard stories from students who made friends with classmates before stepping foot on campus, as well as stories from parents who noted their concerns about sending a child off to college were allayed after attending a Send-Off and meeting fellow members of the GW community.

This past July and August, approximately 700 students and their families attended Summer Send-Offs in 32 U.S. cities! More than 25 alumni volunteers, like you, helped us welcome the Class of 2019 into the GW community! Although next year’s events are a year away, if you are looking to expand your involvement in your region, Send-Offs are a great opportunity! You can help at the Send-Offs next summer by sharing some stories about your GW experience with students and parents, as well as offering some words of advice.
