Q&A with Woman of Distinction Award Winner, Renee Lewis

Renee Lewis 2013GWAA Board Member Renee Lewis, SEAS MS ’90, was awarded the Woman of Distinction Award by the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) of Greater DC. This prestigious award is presented to female business owners or decision-making executives who advance women’s business.

In light of this accomplishment, we asked Renee a few questions about how her GW experience has been influential in her career.

How did your education at GW influence or impact your career path?

My degree in Engineering Management positioned me to take over larger and larger programs until ultimately I was running companies with high-tech solution offerings.

Why do you think attending GW is a unique experience?

GW simply has something for everyone, and the University continues to evolve providing access to current information needs to not only young students but life-long learners. For me, that’s another reason why it’s so important for me to stay connected to GW.

What does being a GW alumna mean to you?

I’m proud to be a graduate of SEAS. I think the school turns out remarkable engineers that go on and contribute in so many ways around the world.

How has your GWAA board experience been?

What an amazing group of Alumni! I would never have an opportunity to meet this group otherwise. It’s energizing to be in the company of so many that give back to the University. I appreciate my experiences with GW and hope I have the opportunity to stay involved for many years to come.

What advice do you have for current GW students?

Be passionate in all you do and you’ll never be bored or long for more.
