In Memoriam: Edward Felegy

Edward Felegy, ESIA BA ’58, a member of GW’s Heritage Society, passed away on Mar. 30 in his home in Alexandria, VA.

Born on December 24, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA, Felegy graduated from Carrick High School in 1954, earned his bachelor’s degree from GW in 1958, and his Master’s degree in education from the University of Maryland in 1970. He served as superintendent to Prince Georges County Schools from 1991-1995 before retiring in 1995.

Felegy is survived by his sister, Janet (Basil) Tranter, nephew, David (Joanne) Tranter, two nieces, Kathleen Lamoureux and Cynthia (Tony) Hagood; five great nieces and nephews, Megan, Christine, Jessica, Anthony, and Jonathan. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Mark Stephen Tranter.

A service was held on April 3, 2014. Memorial contributions may be made in Felegy’s name to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria or a charity of one’s choice.
