In Memoriam: Timothy Swain Ruch

Timothy Swain Ruch, GWSB MBA ’09, of Alexandria, VA, passed away on Christmas morning 2013, with his family by his side, after a brief, but courageous battle with leukemia. He was 33.

Ruch was born and raised in Midlothian, VA. He graduated from James Madison University where he received a BA in history and in public administration. He then received an MBA from GW. After graduating JMU, he served for 10 years as an investigator with the Public Defender’s Service of Washington, DC.

Ruch was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Milford and Bess Swain; and paternal grandparents William and Dorothy Ruch. He is survived by his parents, Bob and Janet Ruch; and sister, Kyle Elizabeth Ruch; uncle, Gary Swain; uncle and aunt, William and Kimberly Ruch; and cousins, Kristen and Kathryn Ruch, Kimberly Ruch Swalley; uncle and aunt, John and Elizabeth Ruch; and cousins, Daniel and William Ruch.

Ruch was an avid outdoorsman; hiking and camping with his friends, and an intense player and fan of soccer.

The family requests memorial contributions to The Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University Hospital or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
