Alumna Named to Perinatal Health Org’s Board of Directors

Ann Gaffey, SON MS ’09, an adjunct faculty member at GW, will serve on the Board of Directors of the National Perinatal Information Center/Quality Analytic Services (NPIC/QAS) in  Providence, RI.

NPIC/QAS is a non-profit organization dedicated to the improvement of perinatal health through comparative data analysis, program evaluation, health services research and professional continuing education.

Gaffey, who is senior vice president of healthcare risk management and patient safety for the Professional Liability Division at Sedgwick Claims Management Services, Inc., is a frequent speaker on topics related to risk reduction and management strategies in healthcare.

Gaffey has acute care risk management experience, with responsibilities including managing self-insurance and captive insurance programs, insurance purchasing, claims management and traditional risk assessment and mitigation activities.  She also has extensive consultative experience, working with hospitals, physician offices and long term care facilities in identifying areas of risk and developing risk reduction, patient safety and mitigation strategies.

Gaffey received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in nursing leadership and management from GW. She has also achieved the CPHRM and DFASHRM designations.
