In Memoriam: Dorothy Kurz, CCAS AA ’36

Dorothy Kurz, CCAS AA ’36, passed away on Sept. 23, 2013 at the age of 98.  Kurz’s family describes her as “a proud alumna of The George Washington University.”

Kurz was longtime resident of the Philadelphia , PA area, but was born in 1915 in Washington, DC, the daughter of John Thomas and Estelle Conrad Jones.  While at GW, she was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority.

Affectionately known by friends as “Dottie” and “Didi” by her family, she lived a remarkable life that focused on family and time well spent with friends.  She had a strong faith and was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Kurz was predeceased by her husband Adolph “Addie” Breuninger Kurz, whom she married in January 1944 and her brother Wesley Jones.  She leaves behind her son, Charles Kurz II, of Bryn Mawr, PA; two grandchildren, Katie Kurz of Zurich, Switzerland and Chad Kurz of Arlington, VA; and a half-sister Jackie Jones Marschke.

Inurnment arrangements are private for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Beaumont Scholarship Fund at Beaumont Retirement Community, 601 North Ithan Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010.
