Alumna Named Exec. Dir. of HR Certification Institute

Amy Schabaker Dufrane, GSEHD EdD ’01, was recently named the executive director for the HR Certification Institute (HCRI) after having served as interim executive director and COO of the organization.

Established in 1976, HRCI is the internationally recognized certifying organization for the Human Resources Profession. More than 125,000 HR professionals in 100 countries maintain the HRCI’s credentials as a mark of professional distinction.

Dufrane, a senior executive with more than 20 years of experience, joined HRCI as chief operating officer in 2011. Her prior experience includes serving as chief administrative and HR officer of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, serving as senior director of HR and administration for the Optical Society and working in the HR department at both Marymount University and Bloomingdale’s.

Dufrane has been a member of the adjunct faculty in the School of Business at Marymount University since 1998. She holds a doctorate in education from GW, a master’s of business administration and a master’s of arts in human resources from Marymount University and a bachelor’s degree in management from Hood College.

Dufrane obtained the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the HR Certification Institute in 2005 and became a Certified Association Executive (CAE) from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) in 2013.
