Veterans Event: “Presidential War Powers” Debate at Lisner

On Sept. 10, GW will host Senator Tim Kaine and former Governor Gerald Baliles of Virginia during a conversation and debate on the topic of Presidential War Powers.

The event will take place at 6:00pm in the in the Jack Morton Auditorium (MPA Building).

Brought to you by the GW University Writing Program, as part of a series on “Democracy and Public Argument,” this event is co-sponsored by the Miller Center for Public Affairs at the University of Virginia and the national collegiate Cross Examination Debate Association.

Following opening remarks by Senator Kaine, there will be a lively and provocative debate on the topic, moderated by Gov. Baliles, and featuring members of the undergraduate Policy Debate teams from GW, Georgetown, the US Naval Academy, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Mary Washington, and James Madison University.

The event will end with a Q&A discussion with the audience.
