Since graduating with a degree in journalism from the School of Media and Public Affairs in 2003, Mercogliano has reported in Valdosta, GA for WCTV and Harrisburg, Pa for ABC27.

After those positions, Mercogliano made it back home to WNBC-TV in New York City, where she was a reporter and occasional anchor for the “New York Live” 5pm show.

Mercogliano recently received a New York Emmy nomination for her coverage in London of the Royal Wedding.

Mercogliano has more than 10 years of experience working in local news, starting her career as an intern at WABC-TV, and working in The White House while attending GW.  She credits her professors at GW for helping to shape her career with both their valuable knowledge of the industry and journalist skills.

One of Mercogliano’s fondest memories of GW is her internship at The White House, which helped her land a job working for George Stephanopoulos at ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” where she learned the business from inside out.

Mercogliano is looking forward to the 10-year reunion in the fall and has already booked a room right by GW’s campus so that she visit her old dorm and favorite spots . She is most excited to see her former classmates and Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority sisters who continue to be lifelong friends.

Mercogliano says she’s happy to be doing what she loves and recognizes that living and going to school in Washington, DC helped to shape her career and her life.
