Every July, the GW Alumni Association (GWAA) Board of Directors welcomes new members in various board positions, ranging from seasoned members taking on new roles, to those who are brand new to the Board.
This year, the association not only welcomed 17 members-at-large to the board, but also gained a new president—Steven Frenkil, CCAS BA ’74.
A member of the GWAA since 2008, Frenkil, who studied political science at GW, brings years of service and experience to his new role with the association.
Most recently, Frenkil served as the GWAA vice president for student-alumni initiatives and president-elect. In 2010, Frenkil received GW’s Alumni Outstanding Service Award for his volunteer contributions to the university and the broader school community.
“I enjoy being on campus and working with alumni, students, faculty, staff, and administrators to support the university,” Frenkil said in an interview with GW’s department of political science. “[O]ur goals are to promote a culture of Colonials Helping Colonials, enhance the student-alumni connection, reinforce the diversity of the Alumni Association, and increase our engagement in community service.”
After attending GW, Frenkil received his J.D. from the University of Maryland, and now works for Miles & Stockbridge P.C. as a principal representing management in employment law and education law matters.

During his two-year term, Frenkil will work with the entire 60+ GWAA Board of Directors—including the 17 just announced members-at-large:
Congratulations to Steven Frenkil and all of the new and/or continuing board members!
We will be profiling new members throughout the summer. Be sure to keep an eye out and get to know the Colonials who represent all alumni as members of the Board!
