ESIA Alumna Receives Prestigious Award from UCF

Jackie Rodriguez, ESIA BA ’03, has been awarded the “Order of the Pegasus” from the University of Central Florida (UCF).  This award, which recognizes exemplary performance by both undergraduate and graduate students, is the most significant and prestigious that a student can win at the university.  Out of the over 8,000 graduate students who applied, Rodriguez was chosen, along with four others, based on academic achievement, university involvement, leadership and community service.  Rodriguez will graduate this August from UCF with a PhD in Education-Exceptional Education track. This track is designed prepare highly competent doctoral-level professionals to assume leadership positions in teaching, research and service in the area of special education. Rodriguez’s dissertation is titled, “An examination of inclusive education in schools operated by the Jordan field of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East” and pertains to the Jordan field of the UNRWA.  Rodriguez worked for the UN while collecting data in their schools in Jordan on education perceptions and practices.
