Benjamin Goldfaden, GSEHD BS ‘37, GSEHD MA ‘40

Benjamin Goldfaden, GSEHD BS ‘37, GSEHD MA ‘40, passed away at 99 years of age on March 25th, 2013. Goldfaden played varsity basketball in his time at GW and, after graduation, went on to play in the league that would become the National Basketball Association.

In his career as a professional basketball player, he played for the Washington Brewers, the Philadelphia Sphas, the Wilmington Bombers, and the Trenton Tigers. He later became a junior high physical education teacher where he coached many of the school’s sports teams and became an active citizen of Greenbelt, Maryland. Goldfaden served on the Greenbelt City Council and the Prince George’s Community College Board of Directors. He also worked as an annuity specialist of Massachusetts Mutual Insurance Co. for 22 years.

Goldfaden was a loving husband and father.
