Mike Humphreys, ESIA BA ’11

Mike Humphreys, ESIA BA ’11, has received his third teaching certification in early/middle childhood physical education. With childhood obesity and related health concerns recently moving to center stage in this country, he is determined to create and deliver meaningful health and physical education instruction that cultivates a generation of healthy young people committed to lifelong activity. Humphreys also is a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) in early adolescent social studies and early adolescent English/language arts. He is one of a small handful of teachers in the nation to be certified in three areas. In addition, Humphreys applied for and received a $1,000 Action for Healthy Kids grant on behalf of Patrick Henry Elementary School, where he teaches physical education.
