Stephen Haines, GWSB MS ’75

Stephen Haines, GWSB MS ’75, passed away July 2, 2012.

As CEO and founder of the Haines Centre for Strategic Management, he was one of the world’s foremost authorities on the application of systems theory to the practical issues of strategy, planning, marketing and organizational change. Haines took academic research and his own and translated systems theory into seminars and methodologies that business people could apply to everyday problems, which he called the Systems Thinking Approach. His many books and system tools were always written to the practitioner and yet maintained his unity of vision on living systems as the natural way the world works.

Steve was a proud graduate of the Naval Academy Class of 1968 and attained an M.S.A. in Organization Development from GW. He is survived by his wife, Jayne, daughter Monica Romero and grandson, Sebastian Romero.
