Mary Ellen Dingley, CCAS BA ’12, who received a Jane B. Hart Award for Academic Excellence from the Anthropology Department last month, also received this year’s Academy of American Poets College Prize. The judges — Profs. Jane Shore, Mary-Sherman Willis, and David McAleavey — awarded Mary Ellen the prize based on a set of poems that they called “strong and interesting.” Her poem “To Hold Failure in Your Hands,” built around the metaphor of a puppy, was specifically noted.
