James C. Rees IV, GWSB MS ’78, president and chief executive officer of historic Mount Vernon, was honored by Washington and Lee University with an honorary degree during its commencement ceremonies on May 24.
Rees has presided over the successful Mount Vernon fund-raising projects totaling more than a quarter of a billion dollars. Prior to his appointment as president in 1983, Rees served as director of development and associate director at Mount Vernon for 11 years. The historic site receives more than one million visitors annually.
