GottemoellerRose Gottemoeller, ESIA MA ’81, was designated as the Acting Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security by President Obama and will be advising the Secretary on arms control, nonproliferation, and disarmament. She will also continue in her role as assistant secretary of state for the Bureau of Arms Control, Verification and Compliance.

Gottemoeller’s expertise is in Russian policy and security. Most recently, she was the chief negotiator of the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty with the Russian Federation.
