Joanne B. Hawkins, CCAS BA ’72, who worked as a funeral director in Philadelphia, died at age 60 on Jan. 20, 2012.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree from GW, she continued her education at American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service and went on to work as the director of the James L. Hawkins Funeral Home.
She served as president of Quaker City Funeral Directors Association for three terms and held positions on the board Lincoln Day Nursery in South Philadelphia and as an officer with Frontiers International.
