My husband and I are also GW Alumni Valentines! Dawn (Konet) Slaven, GSPM MA ’07 & Eugene Slaven, GSPM MA ’07. It was at the Fall 2005 Orientation GSPM Mixer when Eugene and I met and struck up our first conversation. Our first date came shortly after. Three and a half years later, in April 2009, we married in the DC-area. Three years later, we’re still in DC and as happy as can be! Big thanks to GWU for being our cupid!

My husband, Matthew Heller BA ’94, MA’98, and I are double GW Valentines! He was a senior taking Hebrew for the language credit. I was a freshman also in beginner Hebrew. One night he called me for the homework assignment and asked me to meet for coffee to go over it. And then he kept calling… We were married in 1997 while I completed my Masters in elementary education at GW.

My husband, Paul, and I met freshman year at GW. He wanted to meet me so he jumped off the bench in front of Thurston Hall to get my attention. It took me four years of friendship with him to finally go out with him. After sharing a marketing class together senior year I was finally smitten. Sat next to him at our graduation in May 1976 and have been with him since. We just celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary. We have two children, one of which is also a GWU Alumni. I hope she sends her children to GWU also some day!
