Pops Mensah-Bonsu, CCAS BA ’06, is headed Turkey to play for one of the country’s top professional basketball teams, Besiktas Milangaz.
Since leaving GW, Mensah-Bonsu, 28, has played in Italy, Spain, Russia and France. He also has been with five different NBA teams, and he believed he could have made a sixth this month. But a reserve role in the United States might have hurt his preparation to represent Great Britain in next summer’s London Olympics.
“I preferred to determine my own destiny as far as playing and being in the best condition and with my confidence to the point where I can go into the Olympics on a high,” Mensah-Bonsu said in a Washington Examiner article.
