Houston M. McMurray, SPHHS MBA ’65, a retired Army captain and Veterans Administration program analyst, died Dec. 4 at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington.
Houston Moore McMurray was born in Portland, Ore. He was a 1948 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. His military career included an assignment in Japan after World War II and command of a rifle platoon during the Korean War. He was wounded in combat operations and received the Purple Heart.
After his discharge from the Army, he received a master’s degree in business administration from George Washington University in 1965. He was a hospital administrator in Front Royal and Winchester, Va., before returning to the Washington area and joining the Veterans Administration in 1974 as a programs analyst. He retired in 1986.
